Chapter 7

I woke up and stretched my wings. It was a beautiful day! Suddenly, it dawned on me. I had turned away my best friend. I had tried to fight with that other chick! My heart sank. I wanted to say sorry to Red, but I was worried he would be mad at me. I held my head low as I walked towards the feeder. I peeked at Red out of the corner of my eye. He looked like he never knew me, or even existed. I shyly walked up to him. He looked mad. “I-I’m so sorry for being grumpy yesterday. Can you forgive me?” Red had a stunned look on his face. He looked like he was wondering if he should forgive me or not. “Well, you were being really mean. I’m not sure if I should forgive you or not.” He said. “But, I guess I will for now.” I felt so much better now. “Great! So we’re friends again?” I asked. “I guess so.” He said, still a little annoyed. I could tell that his stubbornness was braking though. I gave him a smile and turned around and ate the seed. I saw the chick that I fought with yesterday glaring at me. I gave him a nasty face and kept eating. Afterwards, I preened myself and looked back outside. "I never want to go back out there again." I thought. "It’s too dangerous." Just as I was day dreaming, a female human came and looked inside our cage. I backed up under mommy. The human laughed and reached her hand inside the cage. She grabbed mother and put the rest of us inside a bucket. “Hey, let me down! I yelled. She only squeezed harder. I was tossed into the bucket. Where would she take me now?

Ugh! I guess this one isn't the best! I'm not in the writing mood right now.

I'm not very impressed with it.

Chapter 8

The bucket swing back and forth as the human was walking. Finally, the bucket came to an abrupt stop. It hit the ground with a bang. It made me fly onto the air. “Ouch! That hurt!” I peeped indignantly. The human only laughed and reached her hand inside the cage and grabbed me and my siblings. She carried us into a grassy yard. She put us down into the grass. “I like this area!” One of the chicks said smiling. “Hey, look! It’s a bug!” A chick yelled. All of us chicks stampeded towards the grasshopper. “Give it here! It’s mine!” A chick said. “No it isn’t! I had it first!” Another chimed in. “HUSH UP RIGHT NOW!” I said, tying to crow. The chicks stopped in their tracks. They gazed at me with wide eyes. There was a long silence. I made a mad dash at the grasshopper. I grabbed it in my beak, and swallowed. It tasted so good! “That cheater!” One of the chicks yelled. I looked at him and saw that he was the one that wanted to fight with me. I soon learned that his name was Mustard. He looked in raged with me. I turned my back on him and continued eating. “He’s always getting on my nerves!” I said. “Someday, I’m going to fight with him!” I finally forgot the incident, and returned playing in the grass. I enjoyed catching bugs and the fresh air. I wondered what I looked like. I’d never really seen my whole body before. I looked for something that had a reflection. I wondered if that window had a reflection. I looked at my wings. I had grown some long feathers. “Why can’t I fly on the deck and look at myself?” I thought. I leaned down, and launched myself into the air. I flapped my wings as fast as I could. I was really flying this time! I reached the rail and landed on top of it. The window allowed me to see my whole body! I still had lots of downy all over my body. I only had a few feathers on my head and chest. My wings were long. Disappointed, I flew back down. Just then, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I saw the scariest creature I had ever seen! It had a long tail, and pointed ears. It was coming right toward me! I turned around and ran for my life. I kept running until I realized that it wasn’t chasing me anymore. I turned around and looked. Mother had it cornered, and was attacking it! I saw feathers and fur flying until the creature ran as fast as he could away from the rest of the chicks. I saw a human chasing it too. Then the human ran back toward us. “I’m so glad you all are fine!” The human said. I didn’t understand what she was saying. She picked up a bucket, and put us all inside of it.
