Sir Crusty heard screaming and ran to the aid of the princesses who had already defeated the fox.
"Hear I fair maidens in distress?"
He ran toward them and stopped.
"Be this the fox that killed them, and that young prince who died to save you?" He pointed to Prince Edward and the fox. "A gentleman was he," he twiddled with his claws, "and of royal blood too. Be I not a full blooded prince, yet I am a blueblood just the same, a knight, Sir Crabcake's son, owning a part of this fine country, the fine town of Partridgetree." He stood between Daisy and Polly, eyeing Wesley in disgust. "I will fight to the death for you princess, I'm not evil or from another country, and have more valor than that horrible street rat," he spat his name for Wesley like poison. "Do you accept my proposal, beautiful Polly?" He showed her a twinkling diamond ring.
