Thanks for the update, I had read the thread at the beginning but then lost it when I unsubscribed to everything because of all the notices. Since I hadn't posted to it it never showed up under my name. Glad to hear Radar is doing good! And has all her toenails....

Awe!!! I was just pointed to your thread because I have a 3 day old chick who appears to be blind and believe it or not looks a lot like Radar when she was a chick. Mine has eyes and I think it can see shadows. I put it into its own little brooder but maybe I should put it back with its siblings?

It's amazing that Radar has made it through her life as a young chick to an adult pullet aka hen. LONG LIVE RADAR!!!

Well .. goes to show ya.. beeing blind isnt all that bad.. and then on top beeing a spoiled hen.. She has it made.She loosk good.. Its just so odd with the eyes..
I heard something years ago.. prolly not true but .. i heard that if the temp is too low or to high it can affect the neurons in the developemnet in eggs and chicks.. anyone know if that is true? Or just a simple genetic effect from interbreeding of 2 different breeds ?

Kudos for you for sticking with her. Regardless if its " just " a chicken.( as many would have said) They still are living creatures and why not make her comfy and let he live a good life. There is too much crapp and needless crapp going on everyday. This story made me feel good for once

On that note
I have a cat that is ..well special.. to say the least.He isnt blind but I think he is somewhat " brain damaged" to put it lightly.He just acts weird.. he cocks his head alot. He wags his tail.He acts like a darn dog when he sees us.. and just generaly you can tell he isnt all there.. he does stupid stuff all the time. We adopted him from the pound . No clue on where he was before. But he is the sweetest guy .And he doesnt meow.. he whails like cow.. more or less. But we love him .And then there is my 3 legged cat.. she is just old and sweet.. lol

Sad news....

Radar passed away yesterday evening. I'm not sure why, she was in great health, active that morning, but when I got home, she was laying down and wouldnt move. I tried sugar water to give her a boost, but she only lived another 10 minutes after I found her.

I'm very upset, she was my baby. Spoiled from day 1..my lovely house chicken..

I miss her walking around the livingroom, jumping on the furniture and roosting on our feet while we watched TV..She was a special bird, and if given the chance, i would do it all over again.

I'm so sorry you lost your special chick! You did a good thing by raising her and look how many good memories you have now.
