The RE-Build of Les Farms

I've almost purchased one of those several times but keep putting it off. I keep hoping to find a heat source for brooding that doesn't emit light but gets warm enough for "in the unheated hen house" brooding.

I've almost given up on being able to find such a source as nothing I've found puts out enough heat for an area that could be as cold as 15 degrees f.

If only the ecoglows worked in cold temps :(

I am heating the room, but I may get a premier 1 heat lamp if the eco glows are just too pricey. I have 3 heat lamps under replacement value (as well as bulbs) in the insurance claim. I can replace with premier 1 heat lamps.

Worth a try? I have heard a lot of good things about them from many sources.

aoxa- I'd second the poster suggesting radiant floor heating. We have it in our house (just finished concrete floors) and it works really well. It's common in this area in for shop buildings too. Ours has a propane heated boiler that heats the water, some people use wood stoves, but many people are switching to solar heated systems.

I forget what the cost (for solar) is. I think it's too expensive to just switch out for equipment that works just fine, but I remember I thought it was reasonable for an initial set up.

I hope you find something that works well and gives you the peace of mind I know you need to have.

On the radiant floor heat - how does it affect the room air temperature? The winter temps are pretty low up there in CN...would it have much affect on the room temp?

I looked up some quotes on it and it is way too over the top in cost for us. $3,000 minimum cost for just that tiny room. If we had that amount available, we'd install a mini-split heat pump and heat the whole building.

Unless I am missing something.. We just don't have more than $500 to spend to heat that one little space.

Some new pictures to share....
