The RE-Build of Les Farms

I love the new barn design! Really excited to see that you could go old fashioned with the general design, but update it with the vinyl siding. Makes me much more interested in the vinyl for my own coops! Can't wait to see more updates on the progress of rebuilding, it's very inspiring.

I must not have mentioned it yet here. We are going with steel siding. :)

Easy upkeep - lasts a long time - and is sleek looking!

Here is a barn with steel siding. Just to give you guys an idea on the siding. We are going with barn red. White trim as well.

Ooh, then I will have to look into the steel! It just looks so nice, love the low maintenance too.

So sorry for your lose. After what happened to you and your family I'm updating my barn. I have built many buildings and barns and I have to say, I love metal siding and metal roofs. In most cases it could be cheaper and if installed correctly it shouldn't leak. I know a lot of people don't like the look of metal and I understand why. Because I do all the labor I always go with metal because it has always saved me money! What you have planed will look great regardless of what material you use. I love your plans! Looking forward to more of your posts as you work on it.

I never imagined steel could look so nice, but it really does look good. It will be much cheaper on labour to install (says my contractor) though the material itself is more pricey. It will last us longer as well. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm very glad you are updating your barn. Another family lost their barn and a bunch of animals in it yesterday morning. Such tragedy...

Baby barn has been ordered. Would never have been able to get here without you guys.

Baby barn is 10 x 12 in Amber with lots of ventilation and a nice window. We will use Clementine's old kennel for the run unless we are there to supervise free ranging.. Does not seem safe without a guardian.

It will be delivered this Friday. Expect pictures. Finally some light to really show off the colours of the Basement Babies! They needed this so much.. They are getting cramped in those play pens.. But what can you do? At least they are alive. You guys are going to make them so happy.

Almost the entire baby barn was paid for with help from many donors from our FB page. I don't know what we would do without that help.. The chicks are far too big to be in playpens still. The youngest are 8 weeks, oldest 12 weeks.

I am so sorry you lost your livestock in a fire! Sometimes there is nothing you can do. We had a fire a little over a year ago that a neighbor started accidentally while baling his hay. We were lucky with 45mph winds that the barn and coop were saved with only minor damage, but my entire pasture was burnt, along with our tree rows on that side. We are unable to keep livestock since we are now without proper fencing and the pasture needed a year to recover. Hopefully this will be our year of new animals!

I read your other thread full of ideas to prevent and they are awesome! Since. Had our outdoor fire, I am much more careful of inside our buildings as well.
