The RE-Build of Les Farms

Going so far as to say: "You'll get over it" when we said we were unhappy with how he did things. Yes. Disgusting isn't it?

The metal siding looks stunning! It's far better than I would have imagined. You say it's cheaper to put that up and insulate it than it is to use wood?
No material is more money, but labour is cheaper. You do not need plywood to attach it to.. so instead of vinyl, plywood, insulation, and then a cover (ie: sheetrock or whatever they use after the insulation) - you just have steel panels, insulation and then the cover. OSB is $14 for the cheapest sheet here right now. Add the labour costs to that.. we may just break even on cost between the two.. But the steel is much easier to maintain and looks really sharp!

Aoxa, I am so glad to see that you are starting to heal from this tragity. The chicks look so at home in the new little barn. My hens are starting to heal nicely from our barn fire. Out of 7 hens I am getting two eggs every other day.

Good luck and sounds like you are gonna have a wondeerful new barn.

New going-ons.. We got our quote back for the barn - JUST perfect :) - our insurance company has sent the cheque for the contents of the barn - and things are moving.

We have a doeling lined up for May when our barn is completed, as well as 2 more to pick (waiting on the goats to kid).

Here is Alice with Susan. We went to visit them again today. I am in love with her.

Our seeds have been started indoors. We have a massive memorial flower garden planned (stepping memory stones already purchased) and a few people have sent us seeds for the garden. We have started our tomatoes, herbs, peppers, etc.

My nephew came over this weekend to visit. He wants to be a farmer when he grows up. Margaret the frost bitten hen is his favourite. You can see where she has lost the majority of her right foot, and one toe on the left. Still gets around very well. That's my girl!

Here is Alice again...

Since we are going through every stage.

We asked them to leave the kennel, even though it is damaged. That kennel is definitely good quality. The only thing that survived that fire.. It's pretty frozen though. Can't use it for quite some time. The snow is still up to my waste - but it is going down every day. It is going to be in the 40's for the majority of the week. Phew.. I really need that snow gone so we can start the barn building.
