The Rhodebar thread!

Pics

The description on the Phenotype of the male showing a black barred breast is that of a gold enhanced single barred "Crele" rooster. so basically he is "Crele" but looks like a single barred male with red enhancers

it looks similar to the "Crele Chantecler" project male on this pic. this mae has only one copy of the barring gene and also seems to be red enhanced by autosomal red

One thing that is really noticeable to me, and is probably noticeable to those that have Reds bred to the Standard, is these Rhodebars do not have the Reds type at all. They seem to have short backs and very high tails. I have noticed the same in my little cockerel as he is growing.

I am going to use my Reds to hopefully get my flock to have not only good color but to have the Reds type.

I have a few nice RIR hens. Lost my roo a few months ago. Plus I have 2 rose comb RIR hens. I planned on using the roo to hatch a few dz chicks with my RIR hens.
Its very interesting to see the difference in all the Rhodebars. I try not to get too upset about it. I was so excited to see Lavender Wyandotte coming to GFF, but now I am uncertain if I will try to order any.

Check out my roo compared to GFF Bielefelder stock photo

Rhodebars "Should" and Have to have R.I.R body and type. Rhodebars like Welbars should be just barred autosexing counterparts of their original breed(RIR for Rhodebars and Welsummers for Welbars)

There shouldnt be any Variation on a stable breed.....so any variation indicates the lack of homozygosity of one or many genes(be it Barring, Columbian, Mahogany) its an indication of improper outcross breeding efforts, I have no doubt GFF didnt want to have all this bad rep, but I wonder why they didnt use a profecional geneticist. Dr. Ron Okimoto was a profecional geneticist and while working for educational field he was able to teach me and may others(Henk, Sonoran silkies, KazJaps, GSC, Tim Adkerson) alot from his experience on this field, he sequenced many genes and let us know about them. about 7 years ago he was contracted by the Broiler industry and since he has to handle top secret information he cant post on our forums any longer..but we learn alot from him and "We" continue his work by teaching on these forums... So GFF you should post your questions here(can use different name) and I'm sure many of us can help you on designing an successful breeding plan

These are a few of the pullets I will be using to get my Rhodebar flock going. You can see even at 18 weeks they have long wide backs and lower tails. Those are some of the RIR traits that I will be aiming for.
