The Rhodebar thread!

Checked my eggs and it looks like 15 of the 17 F1's are developing. I am pretty darn excited over finally being able to move forward on this project.

Yay!

Tomorrow I am going to pick up a young pair of Rhodebar (8 months). The pullet just started laying. I have three pullets about 7 weeks old and three cockerel chicks as well. I'm grateful for this jumpstart on my program with the breeding pair.

Here's a question: Does the plural of Rhodebar have an "s" at the end?

I guess if a bike has handlebars then Ihilani Coffee has Rhodebar(s).

you are correct, both are e+/eWh but one shows it more, I would go with the one that is closer to e+ as possible, that way she will pass this trait to her chicks.. and I also believe its a pullet

Can someone clarify for me ( I sure it is somewhere in these 153 pages!) how to breed my Rhodebar hens with my Heritage Rhode Island Red roosters to infuse the RIR but make "purebred" Rhodebars again? I lost me Rhodebar rooster this week

and I now have 5 hens and about a dozen pullets with no roo!
I thought this would be a great opportunity to improve size, color, tail set and body type in my Rhodebars since I have an amazing flock of RIRs.

With my Rhodebars, most of the roosters came up with a crazy roadrunner look. I am waiting to see if it is the same with my young cockerels growing now. My boy that died was just perfect in set and size but it took MANY culls to get him and he was my only one. I am hopeful with his sons. The Rhodebar hens are pretty cute, but they are a bit small and the eggs are on the puny side. I am hoping that the RIR infusion will improve both of these issues. Here are some pics;

What line of Reds do you have? I am in the opposite position as you, I have a Rhodebar rooster that I have over my HRIR hens, so I am interested in the responses you get. I am up in the air if I should put my F1 hens back to my Rhodebar rooster or if I should cross my F1's back to my Reds and then back to the Rhodebar.
