The Rhodebar thread!

The classroom at the coop, where the genetic gurus (like Marvin) share info, lol. I go over and read and read and read trying to get a grasp on some of the genetics

I earned my stripes there... there are really good teachers there, Sonoran silkies, KazJaps, Henk, wieslaw, and you can reed Dr. Ron Okimotto's past post in there too, a Geneticist very dear to most of us

Yes ya'll are amazing over there. Now I have another question or observation for you. In my first hatch of F1's the females are getting darker legs whereas the males still have nice yellow legs. Female legs are looking more of a light smoky gray at this point very noticeable difference when next to a male. What is causing this?

Darn I wish I could remember your hatch dates. .. Would you mind reminding me and I will put them on my hatching calendar... It might help me compare since your first hatch was ahead of mine.
Fyi... That oldest male I have? He thinks he is tuff stuff. I reminded him we have chicken butcher day twice a year... we'll see if he paid attention. ;-)

I'm too tired to remember but will post later. I got them from Bud Alston in WA. I think the pullet (darker, larger than the hens) he said Padgett? (Don't know the spelling either, sorry.)
I had a mixed RB hatch today...they are all over the map with one that is unsexable from my pair. This means my cock is single barred doesn't it (and therefore isn't even a RB)?

I do have a 3 month old that I hatched from OK but he's pretty dark also...less black on him by far though. And some little cockerels that are possible double barred. I'll get some photos when I'm not dog tired. Another early day tomorrow.

If I am not mistaken (memory stinks when you get old) Bud has Underwood Reds.

Thats weird and unexpected, as both parents have clear yellow shanks, but I am sure this is a chick thing, it will likely go away as they mature, Barring will meke sure of that, its nearly impossible to have colored shanks with sexlinked Baring

First hatch started on Feb 2nd and second hatch March 3rd. Ours are really close in age.
