Good I love those dark roosters
Keep in mind, you keep them as a stepping stone. Unfortunately the dark single barred cocks are not purebred

Good I love those dark roosters
I hatched Rhode bars last spring,I got 5 hens and 3 roosters and I just got 2 rir pullets to cross in. Do I keep just the red pullet's?from the cross
Top pics look promising. Cockerels? Not sure they are RB. They have way too much black on the breast, I'm guessing they are a cross. But who knows how they'll feather out. You don't want black at all on the breast though. Could be the lighting. Cameras are always tricky that way. Here are the 2 chicks we hatched a few weeks ago.![]()
We also picked up a pair of extra roos (went for 1 and couldnt decide between the lighter and darker one). This all started with a hen going broody, the breeder only having rhodebar hatching eggs and then getting interested in the genetics and my daughter joining 4h (we have other egg layers, but hadnt thought about purebreds). We also picked up 4 Ameraucana chicks (1 black, 3 blue). I guess I will be making some breeding pens in the spring and see what happens!! If nothing else, I will have more eggs to sell! Here are the boys:

Rhodebar Club of America its a good naeOk... Knoxville APA national went great. (One of my RIR pullets took BOV). I spent some time this weekend beginning the process for getting the Rhodebars accepted into the APA. We've got some people on the APA SOP committee who are helping us. I'm going to go ahead and publish the webpage before long - I'm working on it but it's not quite ready.
The real good news is that this will ultimately give us an SOP.
So what we need now is for all of us to get together and pull the RIRCA SOP and the RB standard and begin drafting a US version. We've set up a club but don't have the tax paperwork (non-profit) complete yet. Name being tossed around is RBCA - Rhodebar Club of America.
None of this is set in stone. I just happened to be the one who dove in the deep end. So... FEEDBACK please. Where would everyone like to see the club go? How much interest is there? We need a minimum if 5 breeders willing to provide displays of 7 and documentation for a few shows. This needs to happen over 5 years and then we can complete the final process (which involves a meet and submitting the SOP).
I'm thinking RBCA - Rhodebar Breeders Club of America
So... between now and the first of the year do I create a spinoff thread just for standard development and discussion? That way this thread, which had focused so much on breeding and genetics can remain on topic.
Thoughts? I'd be glad to add that thread if everyone thinks it's a good idea.
Do I see an Olive egg there?...Please let me know what you think about the hens and roo... I am going to use them for breeding in the spring and want to keep the best ones to use.. I might have to put the roo over several Rhode island red pullets or maybe the buckeyes that I have.. This is my first year with chickens of this breed...
My favorite roo.. He is soo good to me and the hens... Figured to post this picture before he lost his spikes...He stayed outside on subzero temperatures for a week before I built this greenhouse...These birds are all spring hatched..
Bird 1.. Are they suppose to have this light of pattering?
Bird 2..
Bird 3. This wind sucks. This also might refer to this bird but not sure...
Bird 4.
I am sure that these eggs are coming from some of these hens.. Not sure which ones yet.. Not very happy...
.
I know this one is more than likely not to standard but she came with the chicks and is currently laying an egg. Bet it is olive...
