The Rhodebar thread!

yes the first barred bird in the picture is from the second cross. No I do not have him. I had to get rid of my breeders to make room for other breeders.

Reviving this thread... has anyone else started a Rhodebar project?

Here's a link to Feathersite's Autosexing Breeds page, some pretty cool birds!

http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Auto/BRKAutosex.html

I've got my birds ordered to start a few different lines this spring, all bantam.

Doing a single comb version, a rosecomb version, and fluffy, crested feather legged version and we'll just see which ones I like best. :)

I just wanted to give all the Rhodebar people a heads up on this auction. Something does not seem straight up about it. I sent Greenfire an email about it and got the below response. I also sent the seller a couple questions and got zero response.

Jonathan,

Thanks for writing. We've only be shipping rhodebars to Greenfire's customers for a few weeks, and the oldest birds we shipped were 4-6 weeks old. So, the oldest bird we've supplied anyone would now be 2-3 months old. There is no way a rhodebar we shipped could now be laying eggs, and it will be probably be summer before the first birds we shipped will begin laying. If someone is claiming they are currently able to deliver rhodebar eggs produced from Greenfire's line of rhodebars, I can't imagine how that claim could be true. You might want to ask for pictures of the parents. I'd be curious to see the response.

I hope this information is helpful.

Paul

Paul,

I happened to see this auction on eBay. Just wondering if you have sold any Rhodebar that would be laying age now?

Thanks for any info

Oh! I saw the auction and was wondering how they got laying birds so early, as I have been watching for started juveniles from GFF and never saw them. I thought maybe I just missed them. Please let us know the sellers response to your inquiries.

The auction has been taken down... I guess the person really was a crook.
