I give plain local yoghurt. Just massage the crop top to bottom and do not feed anything sweet (fruits, breads, etc.). Cures them easily. How do you get them to drink the wine? They instantly go for the yoghurt :p
I had a RIR with the issue last fall. It was MASSIVE. So gross. It went away after two days of this.

I must admit I gave my hen yogurt after about 6-8 hours :)
I fed her the wine with a dropper. A little bit at a time.... Then I mixed a little extra in her yogurt for good measure :D I did also massage her crop from top to bottom try to get it to move in the correct direction. I had given this hen yogurt only before the wine and it didn't clear her crop.... But maybe I didn't wait long enough. I think the wine is like a booster shot of yeast killer .... Hahaha

Finally just getting time to look at these videos. This first one is excellent! He made it look pretty attainable.

Where do you get one of those chicken pluckers?

Build or buy one...and they are a bit pricey.

A redneck version...

If you look back their breed lines you won't find them too far from Labrador Retrievers. Mine was a mix of the two and HATED water...had to be dragged into the river for a bath a couple of times during each summer. I did that to just get rid of some of that sour undercoating left over from the winter months. They will literally shed two or three dog's worth of hair each year.
Clementine's mother was a GP and her father was Maremma. Both pure. They really liked the temperament between the crossings. http://www.sonic.net/~cdlcruz/lgd-l/usda588.htm Here is a chart of LGDs and certain effectiveness. Apparently Maremmas are better with staying close to the herd.

Her dad. He was very friendly with us, and kept sitting and leaning against us. Clem's mom whelped with the sheep. There were lambs all around them.

Beautiful dogs!! My brother had a GP who would roam....and roam.....and roam. His name was Sam. Friends would call him anytime to let him know of the latest sam sighting. Brother couldn't figure out why he roamed so much. I said it was because he needed a "job". DB thought I was crazy!!

Weird! Do you think it was more a side effect of hogging down on the new feed type rather than from the feed itself? I've heard reports of folks stating the chickens really wolf the FF down the first time they start feeding it to them. Maybe denying them the food was the real kicker and not the use of the wine, as when you used the wine without denying the food it had no good result?

You would think the yeasts in the FF would not be the type to "cause" a yeast infection...different yeast types entirely that cause these overgrowths and inflammations.

Mine wolfed the ff down too! I thought it best to "break them in" I only gave the FF in the AM and only about 1/4 cup each (6lb layers). and gradually increased it over the week. Still keeping the dry feed in there as free choice (and will keep doing it just as a personal preference) Now a week or so later I am giving the 3 hens about 2 cups FF in am and 2 cups in afternoon in a bowl. Seems they don't care so much about the FF anymore and eat it all day free choice like the dry feed. So far no crop issues. they also get free choice grit, shells and I throw in veggies and greens from the garden into the run here and there. Planning on starting sprout trays for them this year (right up my alley as a gardener

Clem gets scents and just takes off. That is why we need to get her to pay attention to our recalls. Bee has been very helpful with that :D WE have been planning our form of attack so to speak :p

Right now we have to work on the following commands: Stay Drop it Come Down We have accomplished Sit within a week of getting her, though she sometimes doesn't care to listen to the command. Never had to do much with drop it, because she is not bad at all with the birds. Come is horrible. I can get her to come if I get my corgi to bark beside me. She adores him, and he despises her. That is the only creature she respects it seems. She will submit to him when told. My poodle who dominates all of the other animals, can't even get her to submit. Clem just wants to play with her, so now they are not allowed together alone. Chloe (the poodle) is a dog I think has no hope in hell of being normal. She was in a fish tank until 8 months old. She is terrified of other people, but is great with animals, and still has potty training issues at 7 years old. We've just accepted it. She is calm and quiet as long as the twins aren't around tormenting her. Koda is perfect. Not a fault in that dog.

The hopeless Chloe. At least she's good with the chickens.
