Hi, I'm new to this hatching chicks. There is an egg that was rocking a lot on day 18th on but stopped at end of day 20th until now is almost day 22th. I can't really see if there is movements because of the weak light, I don't hear anything tapping on it either. Is this normal? If so, should I assist it?

Hi, and welcome to BYC!

Were there other eggs that have all hatched? Regardless, I'd wait another day. They don't always rock in the first place, so the lack of it rocking later isn't that unusual.

I hatch a lot, and many times have one or two hatch an entire day after the rest do. No clue why.

If you do choose to intercede, here is an excellent article how to assist. Again, at this point, nothing tells me it even needs to be helped.

Yes! I had a couple hatched on their 20th day and some not hatching yet but is rocking :((

Thanks! if the others hatched by tomorrow, do you think I should help it? Is there any chance it would be not ready after the due dates?
Just checking, do you have humidity up about 65-70? I'm curious why you see so many rocking as I've hatched probably thousands of eggs by now and very rarely ever saw one do that. Expecially at the end, they are so tight in there they can hardly move.

I guess if all of the others hatch, and that one hasn't even pipped yet, I'd perhaps start a hole for it toward the top (wide side) to see if it's still alive. That article will explain too. If it's pipped but the others have hatched, I'd still leave it be as they can take 24 hours from pip to out.

The hudmidity right now is 74, it is usually at least 66. So far all of the ones that hatched started rocking on day 18th, is that bad? :((

Oh no, I don't think it's bad at all. I'm just saying I've rarely noticed it. Usually, it seems only around day 15-16 or so if I do see one move.

Like I mentioned, they get so big inside that egg at the end 18-21, that they can barely move, but I'm sure some still can make their egg move a little. I just would never worry that you saw them rocking, then they stopped and never rocked again. It might be normal.
