Hubert is a mutt he is buff orpington and marsh daisy so a morphingtion? Pretty much that whole chicken transaction were mutts.

I love mixing breeds! Have you ever seen buff orpington mixed with barred rock? It is pretty!

Can't say as I have but i bet it does make a pretty chicken. I still have a pic of Susan number one, took it so the lady I bought them from could see and so my husband could finally compare and admit we weren't getting eggs from Susan.

This was Mr Roo, he was only 8 or 9 months old when we lost him to a possum attack. He was huge but so gentle.

Then our Amaracauna hen turned roo and was to aggressive competing for the hens with Batman so he was sold.

And here's our keeper Batman, daddy of our 11 new chicks.

I am so sorry to hear that! It must be terrible to have rooster die. Especially one that is nice.

It was actually pretty devastating. We had only had chickens for about 3 months and also lost 6 hens. We were lucky 3 chickens survived. Learned a lot about "little" holes in the coop. We're doing a lot better now, no losses since then.

That is great! As a matter of fact I learned the same lesson. We had a lot of chickens dying since there was a holes in the coop. Now we built them a big coop with not one hole. It really worked! They just have a air vent built in where they can get fresh air. Not to mention a window. They are spoiled!
