What did you based your "girl" determination on? (I have a batch of SLWs that same age and inquiring minds want to know). I thought the presence of wattles says "boy."100% girl.
Are they from a breeder or hatchery? If they are hatchery it is probably because the hatchery crossed them with something so they are not pure. If they are from a breeder to what extent are they feathered? Many breeder quality wyandottes have "fuzzies" in between their toes. It is a trait from cochins which long ago were used to create wyandottes. Here is an example of fuzzies. When showing you just pluck them. If you are getting full blown feathers forming that is a problem.HI
wondering if anyone can help me out here.
received some SLW and a few have some leg feathering. I thought this was a fault.
Also what does it mean when someone says it comes from a pullet line.
Thanks...appreciate any help here!!!
Yes SLW are some beautiful birds.I recently got some Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks. They are now about 2 and 3 weeks old. I bought them from a local feed store. Can't wait for them to grow up and get those beautiful feathers!

Hi
they are from a very well known breeder. they are ONLY a few days old. the feathers are not on toes but go a little down the shanks - maybe half way. I do not know how heavy or light they will be. I dont know if I was going to go the show route but my son was hoping maybe one or two would be something that could be shown but got very upset when he noticed the feathers when they got up and running after being shipped as he reads about everything and see that it is mentioned to be a fault so?????
I dunno....do they fall off sometimes or thin out?
thanks.
