The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Pics
I also need some help. I bought five GLW from a local feed store along with about twenty other pulets. After the began to feather out I thought some thing had got one of my GLW. Later we noticed we had one bird that was different from all the rest. I must have got her in with the GLW. She doesn't look like these in y,alls pics but she looks like my GL but a siver color. The thing is she has a lot tighter feathers than my GL. And Appears to have a smaller body. Here is a pic. Tell me what y'all think.

Can we see a picture of the comb? It almost looks silver penciled but there is no way that is a silver penciled wyandotte if you got it from a feed store. It is more than likely a different breed entirely from your wyandottes.

What did you based your "girl" determination on? (I have a batch of SLWs that same age and inquiring minds want to know). I thought the presence of wattles says "boy."

Well... I am not sure they are too young to tell anymore...

Here they are at 7 weeks...

99% sure I have a boy...

and 2 girls...

Note that at 7.5 weeks, the pullets have the beginnings of wattles... but they are no where near the size of the roo's.

Well... 8.5 weeks... there's no mistake about it now... I'm seeing noticeable saddle feathers, and a noticeable difference between tail feather development on top of the comb development.

Here's what my pullets look like:

And here's what the Cockerel looks like:

On the pullet... all of those feathers are fat, outwardly curved Vs. They are white with black lacing.

On the cockerel... the saddle feathers are skinny, inwardly curved Vs. They are black with white lacing. The white "fringe" lacing is also very very shiny. Also, note the pronounced iridescent green starting on the black areas on the wing feathers and tail feathers.

In addition to that... Look at the difference between their tails at 8 weeks:

The pullet in the front has a long pointed tail, with a prominent amount of white on it. The cockerel in the back there has a more stubby looking tail... mostly black... but starting yesterday, and it's hard to see in this photo, but there are the beginnings of some extremely shiny iridescent green tail feathers popping out of the stub.

Also note how on the cockerel, the black ring around the neck goes all of the way around, whereas on the pullets, any black on the neck is almost entirely on the back, and not very much on the front.

By 10 weeks, roo's look like this...

And Pullets look like this.

At 19 weeks, Roo's look like this:

And pullets look like this.
