The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Fear stage common around that age. Just wait and they will be all over you. I can't keep my 2-3 months old off of me, during chow time especially! A month ago they ran screaming from me every time I went near the brooder. The way to a chickie's heart is always treats

Ok so I'm sure it's early but I'm seeing some differences here and wondering if I ended up with one of each

Sylvie has always been lighter then heather, they were easy too tell apart as chicks. Now they are 4 weeks+ and I'm worried slyvie has way too much white and also less tail. They are hatchery birds so I know coloring can be off but is that much white this early normal for a pullet?

Sorry for the bad pictures not enough hands lol

Hello! Interested in your opinion on one of my SLW. I have 4 and will post a picture of each at 6 weeks old. One - Amy - seems to look a little different. The wattles and comb aren't really any bigger than the others, just more red. And her head area is a lot more white.

Little J - was the smallest of them all as a chick

Nugget - students named her

Wanda - was the largest as a chick, but seems to be developing just like the rest

Amy - Chick in question!

I'll keep everyone posted! Here is one more of my whole crew!

The white coloring isn't normal for male or female chicks, however the comb on the chick on the right looks large for their age and it is possible it may be a male. You really just have to wait a few more weeks

Ok thanks for the reply. The darker chicks comb turned pink first, but now they are both pink. I did notice the lighter chicks comb is wider.... Wait and see

Does anyone know where can I find some good Silver Laced Wyandottes, day old, shipped to Texas? I'd like to avoid getting poor quality hatchery birds as I view that a waste of time when I want to properly patterned/colored. I'm not looking to pay an arm and leg for some super show winning line, just properly colored and patterned, healthy......

Thanks in advance.

Dave

This is my first SLW. Are they all extremely flighty and skittish? Mine is terribly frightened about everything and freaks out when held. I think this photo is about 9 weeks or so.
