The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

LOL. Actually, the first four were Catherine of Aragon, Lady Jane Grey, Anne Bolyn and Isabelle de Castille. Well, Lady Jane turned out to be Richard the Lionhearted and Isabelle was a Henry VIII. We rehomed them and they were renamed to Pepper (the SLW Roo) and Marshmallow (the EE Roo).
Our second set of four I chose coffee names:

Latte
Mocha
Sugar in the Raw
and
Truffle

So far they are all pullets and no roos. I told hubby, if we get anymore roos my next chicks will be blue laced red wyandottes.

My first Silver Laced Wynadotte is here....introducing Miracle.... because it's a Miracle it survived! (Broody's nest was attacked by a snake, Broody squashed one egg, ants invaded it, and this little one was pipped with ants crawling in and out of the egg!!!)

Hello again! I posted awhile ago asking your opinion on one of my SLW. Here is an updated picture of the chicken in question - I'm still wondering if it's a pullet or roo. They are all 12 weeks old now and when I look of pictures of other roosters at 12 weeks they seem far more developed than Amy here. But she looks so different from the other 3. Let me know your thoughts!

Looks very much like my Lexi when she was younger....I don't have any baby pics of her anymore, but maybe this will help...?

Her breast feathers are now almost completely white, and she definitely is not your typical wyandotte...I got her from the local feed store, just FYI. Hope this helps!!

Well, I'm on egg watch now. My three girls are 22 weeks 3 days old and no eggs yet! Two of them have super red combs and waddles, have really plumped up, and have had me convinced for over a week that they'll lay any day now. My third still has the salmon pink colored comb, and hers is much smaller than the others. My little oddball, Lexi, has the most impressive comb so far, and I really think she'll be the first of all my girls to lay. I have 2 blue ameraucanas that are the exact same age that I'm waiting on as well. Hopefully I'll soon have tons of pretty eggs to show off

Fingers crossed!

Won't be long now. :)

Still nothing! Lexi is now huge, with Astrid, who has the best lacing, right behind her. They both look like they should already be laying, but I still haven't gotten a single egg!! My ameraucanas seem to be catching up, too, but they're still molting a little, so I'm not too excited about them yet. I've never been able to raise any chickens to pol before, because I had some issues with my previous coop and all my other girls were eaten before I found the problem, so I've been waiting a very long time for my first egg from chickens I raised, and it's driving me crazy that I'm this close and still have nothing. I check several times a day to see if they've laid anything...I'm pretty obsessed. They are now 23 weeks on the nose, and it's so frustrating!! Anyone else waiting for eggs from their girls? Maybe we can get some commiserating up in here...I don't want to be the only one getting ready to pull my hair out. I know many people wait much longer, but it's the worst thing ever when it happens to you, lol. I'm seriously obsessed. May have to go buy more eggs soon, and I really didn't want to. Ugh!!!
