The sleeping chick pics thread!

The second is educational. Photo threads seem to be one of the most popular, and always stick near the top. And many, MANY first-time chicken owners don't expect chicks to sleep like that. It freaks them out and puts them into panic mode, thinking something is wrong. But this thread is a very visual method of saying "it's totally normal."

I couldn't agree more about it being educational. Had I not seen these photos, I'd panic for sure when my new chicks look like that! Thanks for sharing everybody.

Great thread!! I just brought home my first babies (I've always bought older chickens), 2 wks old. I got them all set up in their new 'playpen' and when they went to sleep, I will admit I was a little concerned as they all just seem to collapse in exhaustion and fell asleep! I did poke a couple just to make sure lol I'll try and take some pics when they settle down again.

I must've been really tired when I got home and checked on the chicks tonight. I saw one of the silkies sleeping in such a position that sent me into panic mode. As soon as I opened the hatch however, she sprung up and darted away. Hehe gotta love their antics...

my sleeping babies...had to wake the one up at the water, too tired to even move. they look funny how they lay with their necks stretched out. I'm in love with them all already! And hoping from the hints in the other thread I read last night I picked girls! only time will tell!

The one in the food tray there is my favorite.

"I'm eating... nom, nom, nom, no....Zzzzzzzzz"

Just found this post by researching "what is wrong with my chicks when they sleep." Awesome thread!

I love this thread! I had no idea before I got chicks how they looked sleeping. Almost had a heart attack the first day when one flopped over on her side with one leg stretched out and twitching in the air! HAHAHAHA!!
