Oh! HA.. I should've added that I wouldn't DARE do that without a patch on!

So now my patch usage is in anticipation of a drastic event. If I left & went to work everyday where there were smokers, there is NO WAY I'd go without one during work hours.

So now when I got to my friends house to work for the day I will wear one. I can tough short term moments with the help of losenges too if I don't have a patch with me.

It really does feel emotionally good, its like cleaning out and organizing a mess. Things are getting done! I really am glad I made the effort to try for more than 3 weeks in a row. I figure that was always where I went wrong. I was looking too far in the future.. as if living the REST OF MY LIFE without cigarettes was just too much to bear. So instead.. it became 3 weeks.. and in the meantime I worked on healing.

so far so good. i hope that helps someone.

Indeed indeed.... take it one day or week at a time.... smoking is such a higly addictive drug, that for a lot of people (myself included) it takes a long long time to forget the smell and what I considered the pleasure of smoking...... Bravao patches or not.........I know it's not easy.............

My name is Janine and I'm a second hand smoker!!! yay! I quit almost 4 years ago and don't regret one day of being a non-smoker. I am 37 years old , started having kids kind of late in life. (I have 5 and 3 year old boys) I want to be around when they have kids... so I gave up the smokes. It sucked HARD to quit but once I was past the freak out OCD days it's been pretty easy. Now when I think about smoking I just ask myself if it's worth all the work I'd have to put into the addiction anymore. Hiding it from DH and family and friends... and how do I explain it to the kids???? It's way easier and healthier this way.

Now I just have to work on eating healthier and excercising!

I posted this on the other post so it is a repeat. I am excited for all of you who are quitting!

Congrats to everyone who are trying to quit. I am a resp. therapist and work in pulmonary rehab twice a week. A lot of our PT are COPD/emphysema PT. They always say they wish they would have known 30-40 yrs ago what was going to happen.

We teach our PT who are having trouble or relapsed to change your routine. If you notice yourself using at certain time (like the stop sign at the end of the street or after dinner) to change your routine. Take a different route to wear you don't stop at that particular sign.

Also a lot of time's finding something to keep your hands busy (paper clip in pocket, stress ball, etc) helps you get over the urge. Studies show if you can wait 5 mn after an urge it, you will forget about.

A lot of our PT keep hard candies in their pockets and pop one of those when they have an urge.

Hope that helps. I love educating about the lungs and disease processes that affect them!
