chickabator,
It might take a lot of trying, took me about 10 years of talk and whining and trying etc. before I finally put them down. Excuse the little slap but if you can afford to buy cigarettes you can afford to buy chantix, wellbutrin, patches, gum or something. You & I don't have a choice. I really don't want to end up spending the last 20 years of my life a blind amputee tied to a bed in a nursing home. We can't afford to be sentimental about cigarettes. THEY ARE POISON! I wasn't diagnosed till about 3 years after quitting. since then I've lowered my LDLs to untestable levels, Kept my A1c at 6.0 or lower. triglycerides are very low and HDLs are in the good range. Also no damage yet to my Kidneys or Liver. Nerve damage aplenty, and I'm on a watch for my eyes. PM me if you need to. This is a subject that I feel strongly about. I have that "sword of Damocles" hanging above me. If you are not getting adequate health care see an endocrinologist. It'll still be cheaper than a funeral, and I'll bet your family and friends think so to. It may take a while, but YOU can do it.
