"Uh-huh." Alina said, around the pencil she had in her teeth. She had put it there whilst tying on the white apron. She pulled on some long white gloves and safety goggles before glancing around. "Hey, where's she gone?"

Calder, examining the scene out of the window, didn't reply.

Alina shrugged and pulled her flaming red hair back off her face, before picking up the fuel.

"I'm still here," Lila had made herself look like Calder.

A flash of surprise entered Alina's eyes, but otherwise there was no sign of a reaction. Calder emerged from between her plants and grinned. Alina looked less amused, but not irritated. She was busy mixing a queer green powder into the fuel.

"What's that for?" Lila asked curiously.

"Should make it just a little less acidic," Alina explained, "It's a compound based on chlorine - same stuff bleach has in it."

She carried it over to a bunsen burner, which she lit.

"Two Marks," Calder commented, watching rather lazily.
Alina remained silent, pushing the chemicals into a fume cupboard and watching it steadily. Then she turned to Mark - the real one - and asked, "How much does your scanner weigh?"

Alina quickly converted that in her head before replying, "Oh good. No worries with weight limits then."

She thought a moment, then quietly suggested; "How about I bring the parts up here? We could get it done now, and as soon as we do that we can find out whether that basement is occupied - then we will know if we're safe to hide there and continue spreading the Truth,"

"Yeah, lets do that," Mark pulled out a few more papers, and handed them to Lila, "Here's a few more scans of that basement area. All I can tell is that it's huge."

Alina beckoned to Calder. "Come on, make yourself useful," she said, leading him down the stairs and flipping the hatch to the basement hideout open.

They disappeared down the ladder.
