The Society of Truth, an RP

Alina laughed in spite of herself, then nodded. "You're probably right. It's now a question of what's in the house..." she mused, opening cupboards to get an idea of the contents.

Heavy footsteps sounded in the hallway and a tall, stalwart-looking man walked in. He showed no major surprise at his kitchen being filled with people he didn't know. Perhaps Chris Kennedy was used to his daughter's idiosyncrasies. Or perhaps it was just his generally unperturbable nature.
(Idiosyncrasies, good word. :thumbsup)
"Oh, hello," Mark said, "You must be Alina's dad."

(I like it, too. I love finding really specific words to articulate just what I want to say :))

Alina turned. "Dad!" she exclaimed. He smiled at Mark and said, "You've had prior warning, I see - I can't say the same."

He turned to his daughter, "Introduce these people to me, Alina,"

"Right here we have Mark and Tara, my... colleagues. Matt and Lottie and Allen and Lila and Calder are upstairs, I think." she said, all in one breath.

(Did I miss anyone?)

(I think you got everybody.)
Lila came in the door, looking much calmer. "Hi, I'm Lila," she said to Chris.

Chris laughed. "It's good to meet you, Lila, though I have serious doubts as to whether I'll still remember your name in five minutes."
He ran a hand through slightly greying hair and turned to Alina. "Do you have anything on for supper yet?"
"Nope. I was just starting. I got a bit..."
"...carried away," her Dad put in. Alina grinned shamefacedly. "Yeah, Mark and I were working on something and I only just noticed the time."

"It's fine," Lila smiled. "I'll help you with dinner, Alina." She offered.

Alina chuckled, "That makes five of us working on it, and I will be surprised if we can't get something rustled up, at least. How long can you wait, Dad?"

He shrugged, "I don't mind. You said Calder was here?"
Alina nodded.
"Haven't seen him in a while. Whereabouts?"
"When I last saw him, he was trying to give me a shock and trip me up." Alina frowned, in half-joking frustration.

"Hey!" Calder exclaimed, appearing in the doorway "That was an accident!"

"Oh, that's fine, I don't need to help," Lila wandered back towards the basement.

Alina smiled, "We could use everyone's help! It just depends whether you want to or not."

Chris grinned at Calder, and walked over. "How are you, son?" he asked, "Long time no see."
"Not bad," Calder returned the smile, "Feeling somewhat abused by your daughter there."
"Fancy having the nerve to suggest you tripped her deliberately!" Chris said, making his eyes wide with mock surprise. "Of course that never happened before."
"Oh no," Calder chuckled, appreciating the joke.
