The Southern Bell Special Chicken Tractor!! I've gone & done it...PICS

Progress has been halted by rain for the past week and a half...sigh, and looks as if it will remain at a standstill for several more days. By the time the dew drys off the grass good it seems like it begins to rain every day!
I did find suitable wheels at the local flea market for $3 each so I was stoked!
Now if I can just get some decent weather I can get back on track.

Looks like a nice start & a great idea. I have been looking into chicken tractors trying to figure out big to make one. They get so heavy, I suppose I could hook it up to the garden tractor & pull it through the pasture.

Hope your weather clears soon so you can finish. Can't wait to see pics when you are done. Has your hubby been home to see it yet?

Well, I'm back to work at the build. I now have a run frame attached and a nest box and roost poles installed as well as a base for my wheels. Just gotta get a roof on, put on the wire and wheels, a door and then paint it! wish me luck, here goes nothin! I'll post updated pics as soon as it's finished.

It's a moveable chicken pen, usually smallish for 3 or 4 hens, without a bottom so it can set on the grass directly and moveable by one person. They come in all shapes and sizes, just google "chicken tractor" and you'll see pics.

I remember when I didn't know what the heck this guy was talking about -- imaging a "tractor" and chickens together just didn't make sense!

Also what I have found that works as a temporary wheel...just prop and two wheel cart under the house side. Although this way takes two people to move it (my daughter helps on the other end). Ive got some push lawn mower tires to put on just havent made it that far yet.

I spend to much time just watching the little Cochin and playing with them. lol just like a little kid in a candy store!
