* The breezes are up here and very irratic, the HUMIDITY is awful, there are thunder-bumpers, downpours and wild lightening popping up all over, (intermittant squalliness) and WORST to this point-- The dropping pressures have the wicked palmetto bugs are out in force. I have killed 6 so far and missed 4. I HATE palmetto bugs, and so does Miss Chook!! She has hollared at me three times so far tonight to come eradicate them for her. I AM DOING MY BEST, BIRD!!!! (Ed. Uh oh, there's another one. Times like these make me wish I used residual pesticides. Liberally. ~

Yeah, I woke up this am to wicked lightning storms. I can't believe what is going on with the rapid intensification with these tropical depressions. It has got to be of historical significance, and doesn't make me feel too warm an fuzzy about Miss Hanna, either, especially after having been thru Jeanne, Frances and Wilma.
I cannot immagine the horror anyone on the Gulf coast must be feeling looking at the projected path of Gustav, although I hope all err on the side of caution this time and get the heck out no matter how inconvenient.

And put that bird to work!!!! She should be munching up those Palmettos like candy!!!!

* Ah, that was the problem-- Gustav was "popping an eye" last night. Just saw the update. That's probably why the weather got so squirrelly for awhile there.

Chook is a thoroughly unnatural chicken, OC. She won't touch a cockroach, and spits out earthworms, too.
