The strangest place youve...

One of my chickens didn't make it back to the coop before it was too dark to see. We were frantically looking everywhere for her. Finally I found her asleep on the wood siding of flat bed truck. I guess it was the tallest place she could get to in her immediate area.

Up inside an old combine... way back inside the working parts and she got broody and had chicks there. Of course that was back when I was a kid.

how about in the inside of a huge roll of chicken wire...Couldn't get the poor thing out without unrolling the whole roll...

Another one picked this little space inside the feeder pigs pen. She was right at home eatting feed along with the feeder pigs. Even had a nest and hatched out 8 little babies who ran in the pen along with the pigs....

Under a huge Rubbermaid tub underneath the coop. My Ameraucana rooster Scout could not be found at the end of the day. I knew I had seen him not that long ago. I always kept a big tub with a lid on it under the coop with loose straw inside from an open bale and it had become empty, but I neglected to replace the lid. Scout apparently had jumped inside and when hopping out, his weight on the edge flipped it over on top of him. Silly boy.

at a Burger King, the hospital, oh don't even get me started on the free roaming peacocks around here. On my roof...........bah! I lost an eave because of them &$##@@#%^)*& picking at my roof top. Seriously, our hood is OVERRUN. I soooo want to rant about the iguanas, but I won't because the tourists are worse.

Underneath a little cardboard box I accidentally left in the run. She must have flipped it over on herself like some of the people who already posted had theirs do. Lucky for Polly, she's my only white chicken, so when I didn't see her familiar splash of light, I went searching. I almost didn't pick it up because it was such a small box I didn't think she'd fit under it. I still don't know why she didn't just stand up, silly chicken

Just yesterday, hubby was getting some scrap wood atop the rafters in the barn (to install new nestboxes) and he heard a hen ... seems she had fallen down between the grain room and the huge freshly stacked hay in the barn (about 8 ft).

We tried several ways to lasso her out of there, but the hay bales were in the way, so my son dug a 'hole' into the hay, pulling hay bales out until we reached her.

Oh, she'd laid an egg while she was down there. Darn lucky chicken!

Just today my husband and I were in the garage having a beer and a conversation, when I turned around and to my suprise...there was my weird hen looking straight at us. All the others were long ago snuggled into their roosts. There she was looking like "hey guys.. what's up?". I swear she had a grin on her face. I carried her back to the coop and tucked her in. Ever feel like someones watching you?
