Thank you!
The white hen is a D'uccle. I know! The only thing missing is the crest.

Don't tell my other birds, but, she and Ivory are my absolute favorites.

Thanks for the complement! Yes, they're still babies.

Only 2 months.

Very cute! I love white chickens but they aren't white for very long during the wet season haha.

Ugh, I'm home for the weekend and discovered a very heavy mite infestation in the bantam coop! I'll be spending the evening cleaning and treating everyone -_-

Ugh. I've had that happen before. Not. Fun.
Hoping for a quick recovery for all your birds!

My white leghorns were taking a dust bath in the new shavings I put in their coop today.....well one of them was really getting into it, she was so funny!

I got mites in my mealworm box, can these things infest my birds as well? Or is that a different kind of mite?

Mites infest everything! I think I just got a heavy load because they got infested after I cleaned out the coop and put fresh straw in there . Had lice before, but this is new.

Oh gosh! Well, I put my mealworms outside and the mites didn't like that (don't think the meal worms like it much either?) They seem to have mostly died off. I haven't thrown away my mealworms because, frankly, I've had them 6 months and never got a chance to feed them to the birds! It's just too depressing! I read online that one way to get rid of them from your mealworm farm is to remove any humidity, and it's pretty dry here in the winter. I looked very closely yesterday at the boxes, and still saw a few moving, but I'm still hoping they'll die off. It's probably not going to happen though.....bah!

In the mean time, my one cockerel that I have left and have caught crowing once, has been a quiet little boy this morning. We've had no crowing so far today or last night since the other three went to their new home!

hopefully he's the quiet sort

I didn't choose him because he didn't crow much, when I chose him, I didn't know personalities that well. So hopefully that means it was meant to be, he's such a sweetie!
