the sultan thread

definitely not Victor, but Victoria

She's so funny staring into the camera like that! That picture begs for a witty comment only I'm not witty, LOL.

I put two of my sultan eggs into the incubator with a bunch of Serama eggs, but they're not developing. The last egg I broke open looked like it had a weird bullseye but I think if it was fertilized, it was done with such old sperm that it wasn't viable or something. Charlie haddn't been with them in 3-4 weeks (not sure anymore, guess I could go back in the thread, LOL) He got to visit a little yesterday but he kept crowing and after a few hours I took him back in the house. Poor dear, he was so darn happy!

How many roosters are you keeping in the house? My family would kill me if I tried to do that, haha! I'm sure I'll have little crowers soon, the babies just turned 4 weeks!

LOL, my girls are currently quite messy as well. I'm not sure if I gave them too wet a feed (I ferment) or if they're dunking their faces too deep in the water??

I'm embarassed to say! I'm building a sound "proof" coop with fanned ventilation for them but until that's finished, they're in the house :( With visitation when they're good and I have time to monitor, LOL.

I have 1 bantam Sultan (Charlie) and 1 LF Crevecoeur (Bouillon) who are buddies and 3 Seramas. One is with 3 girls and the other two are alone in another cage. The girls beat them up if they get the chance, not Sirius, who has never hurt them. So I'm hatching some eggs in hopes of getting a few girls for each of the lonely boys (they're also from different stock).

So yes, it's a bit of a madhouse here :( I don't want it to remain this way, my family thinks we're already way too weird (and so do the neighbors!)
