Okay!

So this is what my EE x sultan turned out like. I just stuck 2 more EE x sultan eggs under a broody in hopes I would get some more, after having to sell my only sultan roo due to agression. I am totally getting more soon, I love the sultan breed.

I have to tell you I read your quote at the bottom of your page this morning and it made me cry....
I have a chick that was attacked and she is blind and maybe deaf. I posted on another thread about her and a couple posts were very negative about trying to keep her going. This is the way I took it anyway. Almost coming out and saying it was selfish to not cull her. I felt bad reading their posts but had already decided to help her and give her a chance at life. I know you cant save them all but when I read your post I knew I was to save this one....
Thank-you
Marie

Beautiful BantyChooks!

Here are two of my amigo's from sultan hen and mille fleur roo.

I have a 3rd which is from mille hen x sultan roo. It's white and looks like a mini sultan without a large crest. They are all 3 tiny though and I think roosters

That's fantastic!!!! I have a lot of rescues. Some handicap some not. It's ok, I give them the best life I can. Good job on yours!!!!! Keep it up

I moved my 20something chicks outdoors into the sultan coop with the big chickens. Hubby was giving me grief about them being indoors and it was a bit crowded in the brooder. I have a couple hens who walk around talking all day so I was hoping maybe one would feel the urge to be Momma chicken, but they didn't :( The chicks are happy in the hoop coop though and will run out the door for a few minutes before shooting back inside to the back corner. They are even integrating a little with one of the older sultan chicks in there, she's not entirely friendly to them but doesn't seem to mind them much either. The rooster is ignoring them, he knows they are his I think.

Wow! my chicks are 1 month old now. I've lost a few to unknown reasons, just failure to thrive I guess or they were picked on by the larger chickens since they went right into the coop with the adults.

The chicks are foraging the side yard and ranging out a lot further than the adults do. Thankfully the hawks around here are seasonal or I'd be having a breakdown with all the little white poofs bobbing thru the grass looking for bugs.

My hens have stopped laying :( It's been hotter than hades here in Fl and that may be a contributing factor along with the local farm store not having the gamebird feed I generally use for several weeks now. The girls are just not used to the low protein in normal chick or layer crumbles. They are possibly about to molt too. It can't come soon enough since they rolled in the mud and are now all grey..they are not pretty chickens right now, not at all.

On the bright side, one of my silkie cochin mixes started laying and went right into broody after about 8 eggs. So I shoved my last sultan eggs under her.
