OMG theres this amazing pair of Sultan for sale near me for $120 (I'm in Australia, theres about ten breeders in the whole country) but we can't have roosters, so devastated.
We're gonna contact the breeder sometime this week hopefully! We're planning to build a smell pen for the pair in the garage and have them in there from late afternoon to late morning and let them out for the day (hopefully)
Oh and the subject of black sultans I found a vid on youtube of them!
That was really cool I'm seriously with my finger on the "pay now" button at Ideal Hatchery for some bantam sultans, LOL, but if I hit it the "check" will bounce, ROFL. Oh shoot, no money. Spent everything on making a coop
I really hope you get them and post a lot on this thread, 'cause I'm hoping to squeeze a batch of chicks in to our space somehow! I adore them! So weird yet beautiful IMO
Can anyone tell me where to find the standard of perfection for Sultans or Bantam Sultans? I can see what I think are beautiful birds, but have no idea about how they would be judged in a show. Also I wonder how these lovely birds can be so uncommon? I'm going to see if I can find anything at the Polish club, fingers crossed they have info there???
I also broke down and ordered bantam chicks from ideal poultry
As I understand it, their "bantams" are too large for bantam and too small for standard but I hope I'll get some pretty ones anyway and I'll enjoy them, I'm sure!
They're supposed to be good in confinement, not good foragers and such, so I'm hoping I can make them a "pet" cage in the patio and let them run around in the small yard next to the patio which is somewhat fenced in and has a huge tree covering most of the sky. I would only let them out there when I'm around though
I am hoping that by some fluke, they end up being proper bantam weight though....
lots of poulets and not so many roos
(knocking on/ touching wood!!!) While I'm at it...
