Cool, I finally found the information on feet! Assuming it is correct:

"Having 5 toes seems to be co-dominant (not true dominant), if they get two copies, both feet have 5 toes, one copy one foot has 5 toes, no copies four foot toes." from a post by FireTigeris

Now I know why 2 of my birds have one foot with 5 toes and the other with 4! Cool!

Sometimes you just gotta ask the question just so to find the answer. I've been trying to find that out a while now, but today I hit upon the answer (assuming it's correct) There are so many variables I don't think anyone knows the full truth on genetics yet ;P But a good guide is helpful!

I change my mind, I think I have 5 boys, not 4. One has a little color back there, and I'm calling it a boy now, though it's one of my smaller chicks. Can't wait to see if I was right or not. I have each bird tagged with a colored zip tie and a notebook with my notes on each bird. If I can find the time, I'll try to take photos of what I think are boys and what I think are girls. Got a lot going on tomorrow though, so I may not get to it

I will try to do that tomorrow. I want it for my records as well. I had a super busy day today, leaving the house after doing a ton of chores around 11 AM and just got home (it's 9 PM here) But tomorrow is pretty clear, working on coop exclusively I hope

Ok, maybe my theory is bunk, because they're all looking a little red in the daylight, LOL. But here goes:

Same as above, color isn't quite as intense as boys?

I would never cull based on this, as they could change color with their mood or something else like how warm it is, etc...??

Oh, and here is my first coop, working on enclosing it with a run right now:



Those white lines above the sliding door are just paint. I scratched up the paint above because I had screws sticking out of the back of the sliding door, and ran out of the other color, so I had to repaint it the same color as the trim, LOL. There is a big double door on the other side (where the roost is) and I can go inside to feed them or water them from this side, plus scoop out poopy shavings directly into the garden here. I'm building a second coop, 1.5 times this size facing this one but off to the side of it more toward the back wall. Not sure if that makes sense? I might let the Seramas and the Sultans share a run.

I would hold off on gender-guessing for a couple more weeks. I thought mine was a boy because of the pink tinge to her comb early on, but it hasn't turned red red and she's nearly 6 months old. On the contrary I have a silkie/serama mix who when bright red early, but isn't crowing and doesn't have any rooster feathering at 6 months old.

Moral of the story is you never know what'll happen and those babies will go back and forth several times over the course of their development. haha

I tell people to wait until 8 weeks before making presumptive gender guesses, unless it's a straight combed bird which you can usually tell around 5 weeks if you're lucky.
