Been there done that and got the T-shirt.. Will choose to be armed if/when the time comes again.

Anybody that don't like guns in their house are free to hang a sign outside that says so. That way the crooks don't have to worry about which house they choose.

No, this isn't the movies. Shooting a gun under stress is hard, and that's why some of us train at it. I understand that, so I'll do the best I can if the situation arises. This is mental preparation, and is as important as shooting the gun for practice.

What I refuse to do though, is just sit idly by and leave my and my loved ones safety to, more or less, chance. Yes, we can make good decisions and try to stay safe, but you just never know when trouble can arise.

Here is a thought for everyone to ponder. How many mass shootings happen where firearms commonly are? I mean gun shows, shooting ranges, gun stores and hunting clubs. It is almost unheard of.

How many mass shootings do you hear of in "gun free zones"? Good examples are courthouses and schools. It is epidemic.

Criminals love gun free zones because it is their free license to do basically whatever they want. They fear areas where citizens commonly carry.

Metal detectors are as worthless as the people running them. I have seen officers letting people through without checking that said "oh its just my keys". I have been stuck for over 30 minutes because the welding slag that has buried itself in the skin of my ankles was setting it off.

No, not in every state does your permit show up when the license is run!

The only one I know for sure is New York (you would think that if anyone did it would be NY) Dispatched there for 18 years.

In response to Seedcorn's question about carrying a gun if they are illegal I
say only in certain instances. I travel through MA & CT (live in CT and have permit there).
I won't carry into MA. It's simply not worth it to me although I know I may regret that
someday if I ever needed my handgun there. The same goes for NY.

If handguns were ever nationally outlawed I'd carry one everywhere since it would be
a field day for criminals.
