Hello, we got 2 yellow ducklings from the "dinner" section at a local pet store here in Mexico. One totally yellow (Flea) the other all yellow with black on top of head (Corkey.) Both are now about 8 weeks and Flea is developing a black head but not as pure black as Corkey. Totally white otherwise. They are huge and not one quack or husky quack or anything but the peeping we've heard from the get go. They are total cuddle buddies, but I've noticed them getting a bit aggressive with the chicks around food and Flea just had a wrestling match with my toothless 5 lb dog. (I will be sure to keep them apart from now on.) Any guesses on breed or sex? Corkey is feathered completely...Flea just a tiny fluff left. Flea is prone to lay down in motion, has thicker legs, and is more bonded to us. They are always at our door peeping for attention. It's our first rodeo with ducks and I'm so hoping for girls....but I have a feeling we may be out of luck. They are pets more than anything, but with the amount they eat it would be nice to get some eggs. I'm concerned about if one or both are males as we have 3 hens and I'm hoping they will continue to get along and live together. I understand if one or both are males they will need (or want) multiple females to be content. Problem is, I haven't found anyone who can sex baby birds here. We wanted ducklings so they could imprint on us and be pets...but I had no idea how attached ducks could get. It's like they are only content when we are hanging with them. Here's some photos. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post...we love them so much....whatever they are!
