The suspense is killing us! What are these ducks???

That's what I was thinking. I guess if I see any Carnucles form I will know. No signs yet. If only they'd tell me if they are male or female! Maybe Magpie cross as guessed above, but they are BIG.
You have two lovely muscovy
And there are signs of caruncles developing round their bills.

Yellow fluffies with just a little black on their heads: watch their eyes. One or both might develop blue eyes. My white muscovy developed striking blue eyes as he matured -- indeed I often address him as "ol' blue eyes"!!

I see the beginning of caruncles.
Looks like maybe drake and a female. Drakes at 8 weeks should begin to grow larger than the females. Drakes have thicker legs and they sit further apart under the body than females, female's legs sit close together so when they walk they almost look like they will step on their own foot. Females make trilling noises and drakes will huff and hiss.

They are beautiful. :welcome
Awe thanks! I think they are gorgeous. Spent the evening hanging with the non-quack duo with new eyes after all this dialog and Flea def has thicker legs and is bigger with less feathers. HE/she falls in mid sprint all the time, is lazier and more of a lover actually. Corkey is more active and almost fully feathered. More delicate in a way. I'm guessing the couple we named them after might appreciate a name swap. Flea (Falicia) might be a boy and Corkey a girl. Gah....when I went to pick up hens I had no idea these ducks would steal our heart. It was a such an impromptu pet purchase that I'd usually be against, but SO glad I went against my best judgement. Our hens are awesome, but these ducks are next level!

Yes! Thank you! They both have beautiful blue eyes. They are the best

I will confirm, these are Muscovy. This is a very typical colour for them, and the white may actually disappear by the time they are a year old.

It can be difficult to say at this age, but both appear to be female? The males will usually be much bigger by now (they grow to be twice the size of the females). I'm basing this on the shape of their heads and beaks, how the caruncles (the fleshy red parts on their faces) are very minimal (males will have a little bit more by now) and general posture in your pics. But without seeing them in person, I can't be certain.

Also, :welcome
WOW! how incredible it would be to be two chicas! I've been fretting they are both males and how I will split up our property to separate or how many female ducks I could fit...or where I will find these female ducks in the remote jungle of Mexico! Fingers crossed they are both girls or at least one of each with a very mellow fellow who doesn't need many mates. Either way we will spoil and accomodate because we are serious duck lovers now!

Well, as I said, I was half asleep when I looked at the pictures. :)

Muscovy are a native South American bird, so you may be able to find them more easily in Central America than you think!

yea...the more I research the more it all makes sense. These feathered friends will need to be very heat tolerant once summer rolls around. It's just that in the area we are, when I asked about someone who could sex the baby ducks or chicks they think I'm crazy. Hey, they think we are crazy vegetarians so why would we be buying baby ducks?!? They really think they are for eating only in our town. I'm so psyched to find this forum. I'm officially duck crazy and have been learning like crazy. So much fun. Keeps us laughing and guessing and perplexed daily. Thank you!
