The Sussex thread!

PS, I don't want to sound like a pain, but I have never seen a speckled sussex baby that looks like that. All the ones I have seen look a lot like Wellies, but Wellies have yellow legs and the sussex have pink legs. Otherwise, they always look the same. I am just thinking it might be another color, like Light Sussex, maybe.

Don't worry, you don't sound like a pain. I just want to know what it is now!

That's what I was told it was and I cant imagine the person lieng to me because I stay in touch with them as I gt the mother hen and others from her.
Hi John, I've seen your pictures of chicks on another thread and I'm sure your other chick is the Speckled Sussex.

BTW, this is my first post here. I had 5 SS, but the turkeys suffocated one. I think I have 2 roos and 2 pullets, but one has issues, so I'm not sure if she's a pullet yet. She's way behind the others of the same age.

I want my other chick to be a Welsummer!!

well that is one interesting chick. Hum Could be an eWh based Speckled Sussex??. eWh is a light yellow chick. The Speckled Sussex which have the head stripe, eye liner and back stripes are e+ based. Take pics and see how it feathers out.
Van Dort and Hancox boko says that Speckled Sussex is e+ based on in America; in Australia.it is eb (Brown) based; and both eb and eWh (Wheaten) based in the UK and Europe. Does mahogany show up n the chick down? At any rate this chick is too light to be Speckled Sussex. Either they made a mistake when gathering the chicks for you, or something jumped the fence.
Best,
Karen

We got 3 Speckled Sussex yesterday and were told they were all pullets/hens about 15 weeks old. Well, there is on that looks noticeably different from the other two. Do all of these look like pullets?
