I'm wondering if we should include chicken in the name? I googled Sussex and got a lot of hits on the Sussex Spaniel.

I have 3 Coronation babies now! But, sadly one has a wing problem. It just kind of hang's there. Does anyone know of something that I could use to brace it? Or should I cull it? It doesn't seem to be in any pain. It's about 3 weeks old now, and it happened a couple of days ago. Wasn't born that way. It doesn't look broke, but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't cull it!! I'd try VET WRAP (you can buy it at the feed store). Get blue or purple, though since those colors probably won't be as appealing to it's siblings to peck. Then, hold the wing in the proper position & wrap it. This is what I did for a Sebbie gosling I had and he ended up just fine.

This is my 10 week old speckled sussex. I THINK she is a pullet?

She crowed the other day

, but she is the dominant bird of my six, and I know hens can crow. She is soooo smart and very sweet. Here marking look darker than a lot of the bird here, but I guess her colors will change as she matures? I love all the mahogany and she has a lot of irradescent green too.

She has a messed up comb, but I don't care. Maybe it will straighten out a little as she grow?

Does she look like a pullet to you SS experts?

Edited to add her name is Serene because she is so calm and gentle.

Thanks Rare Feathers, I sure hate to cull a Coronation! Since, I only have 3 babies so far out of my split pair. Do I wrap the vet wrap around the body? I sure hope it's okay. But, you give me hope, since you have done it before with good results. I'll get some Vet wrap today and give it a try.

Steve - here's my thoughts
I like Sussex Breeders Club of America but I'm afraid people that arent breeding sussex will think they can't be part of it. So...........
My 2nd choice is North American Sussex Association which would then include sussex people in Canada but then you have the NASA acronym. So...................
How about keeping it simple Sussex Poultry Association or Sussex Poultry Club but then it's not associated with any specific area. So..................
After all this My vote is for either Sussex Club of America or North American Sussex Club

The good part is whatever it's named we get a Sussex Club! Yea!

Carpe Dihen I'm thinkin your she is a he!
