Didn't get a very good Light Sussex hatch, I only got four. But at least I got some.

Looks like a pullet to me...

Your egg looks rather dark for a SS, but it also looks wet, so that could be all that is. Here are some just laid eggs from a couple of my SS hens (not wet):


The speckled egg is from my Barred Rock....! No eggs yet from my SS. She has been stressed from the move but is finally integrating with the other 3. She has been going through a soft moult


too..but that seems to be tapering off. Giving her good food and mealworms!

Kathryn P! I believe that Punch laid her very first egg today .....since she's been at my Urban Farm anyway! And I see what you meant about the color. Looks more like the eggs you posted pics of! It's on the smallish side as well and she is not a big girl. Thanks !

Punch laid another egg today....exactly like her first one yesterday! So proud of her! Her feather are growing back in too since I rescued her from an over breeding and no room to run predicament!



The pic of Punch is from when I first brought her home and she was in her own special section of the run.....will have to take some new ones! She must be younger than the breeder said because her eggs are pretty small compared to the Ameraucana eggs and they are close to the same size bird!

Hi Sussexians! I'm hopping on this thread because I'm expecting two Speckled Sussex eggs from Meyer anywhere between 7/19 - 7/21. I'm PRAYING they are received in good condition & I am able to hatch them. I've never hatched an egg before...

Didn't know you could order only 2 eggs! I hope they arrive safely and that all your chicks do well! My SS is very sweet .....she laid her 3rd egg today . That's an egg a day for 3 days!

Did you order hen eggs.....or can they tell in the shell what they will be?

Guys, my SS is ten weeks old and STILL barely has a tail! Silly thing...

Here she's far right, next to my other girls who all have luscious, well-grown tails!
