I currently have 8 SS, but about 9 months ago I wanted to try out some CLS eggs and this is what I got. They are split though.

They are much bigger than my SS.

At least 50 eggs...

wow! Why so many?

chicken math. You need 4 times as many eggs as you want pullets. Half don't hatch, and half are roosters. Besides, everyone wants some chickens.

Here are a few of my speckled Sussex. I'm really proud of them. Some have some white in the wings, but you can see none of them have any solid white tail feathers. One of the hens has her tail up, but she was a little upset with me cornering her up for a picture. Don't know that their tails are perfect, but seem to be at a decent angle. I think their backs are broad and long enough. These are about 5 or 6 months old, but not laying yet. Should start anytime I reckon. The roosters are crowing, but haven't got past sounding a little screechy yet.

I hope to be able to sell some hatching eggs sometime in the future. Anyway, just thought since they finally got most of their feathers grown in I'd share them.

Here are two of my roosters:

Roo #2 He looks a little scrawny in this first picture, but you can see from the next two he really isn't.

I pray it's not a boy. What's the way to tell?

Well, I have no clue about Sussex's, but I can tell its a boy by the way it stands and how big its comb is...
