Hello everyone! Im looking for some Svart Hona hatching eggs or chicks. Theres a fellow on ebay who claims to have GFF lines but no paperwork. His user name is us2013_couni, first name is Mark. Anyone dealt with this fellow before?
Thanks!
Britt

Never heard of him; however, I have Svart Honas straight from GFF and do have paperwork. If you're interested, I could send some eggs/chicks your way

Welcome to BYC!

So glad to have you here.

Where are you located? Knowing this will help out with finding a breeder local to you. Although... some of the people here in the thread can help out too.

I am in NM and currently have a roo looking for a home. Are you close to me at all? Good luck in finding some chickens, they are awesome!

One of my broody hens hatched some Svart roo x Buff Orpington hen chicks this week. Thought I'd post some pictures for fun.

I don't recognize his name either, for better or for worse. The only paperwork I get from Greenfire are receipts they email.

This Facebook group currently has an auction up for hatching eggs: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1118237814878524/

I asked, and their stock is from Greenfire Farms and they are NPIP. You'll be able to ask them more info.

I put One-eyed Jack in his own tractor today. He's still pretty thin but his energy is up, so I think he'll be ok. I put him with three hens.

I noticed today that some of my hens have faded spots in their hackles, I'm guessing this is the same that presents as gold or silver in the roos? I couldn't see it from the pens, only when I held them. :/ So I've got a little more color work than I thought yet to do.

Anyone have black mouths/tongues in their birds? I checked today and I have white and shades of gray, but no black.

Huh! I'll have to check for that, I'm about to cull two cockerels. I did notice one of my cockerels seems to be developing green earlobes??? He is definitely going into the freezer as he also has a comb that falls over very far.

I think shorter combs are better for my area because although my coops are protected and well insulated, it can get pretty darn cold up here in the mountains. A really long comb could be a problem here.

I have some.pullets with black mouths/partially grey tongues. Still needs work.

Looks like one of my boys has some mulberry wattles. No mulberry on his comb though. I have another boy that is so far all black and another one with lots of colored feathers. The two girls are all black still. They turned 19 weeks old over the weekend.

Such nice pictures gapey! Most of mine were in the 6mos range before they developed color in their feathers, and that's when some of the blackest combs turned mulberry. Every time I thought I had selected the very best breeders, it would change again.

I love the silver hackles. I've seen them listed, but I can't remember now what the color was called.
