THE SWAP THREAD "MARCH"

I would say no to that. I know it may seem like there are a lot of restrictions that are being imposed, but it's all in the best interest of the people involved. If they aren't your eggs, you really have no control over them.

Do you only have one hen?

No, I have four. Two are in the barn where the rat keeps stealing the eggs and the other two are where the broody are and she keeps stealing the eggs. ;-)

I know on the old byc swaps what I had mentioned was okay (buying eggs from someone to have them shipped), that's why I wanted to ask here about that for future reference. :) Thanks!

Count me in....I have a lady locally giving me eggs more than I can incubate this time.

I can't stand it anymore. I want to do this. My husband is gonna kill me...ssshhhhh...

I so don't have the extra pens for more breeds and I'm going to have to beg him to build me more...

But I didn't pay attention last time, so I have questions first!! So, do we not know what kind of eggs we get (other than the category we requested)? Or does our swap partner tell us what kind of eggs they are when they ship them? Is it a one big surprise when they hatch kinda thing??

I see that you are required to send 6 eggs. Is that just a minimum, and we can send extras if we have them? Or is that the exact number we have to send? Can we send more than one breed as long as they fall under your partner's requested category?

Do you get to work with your partner on the ship date? I see the cut-off date for shipment, but can you request a timeframe/date? My incubator is full now and won't be free 'till after the 26th of March--so I can't take any eggs 'till then. Is that kind of thing a problem?

Thanks!

ETA: sorry for the zillion questions, I'm just a very detail-oriented person!

You will not know the breed you are sent.

It is supposed to be a surprise, and you aren't supposed to know who is sending eggs to you.

6 is the minimum, do not send more than 2 extras.

You can send any combination of eggs provided they fall in the correct category.

There is a two week time frame for shipping. You need to be sure you have incubator space available before joining the swap. It is difficult to ship on a set day, hence the two-week allotment.

So, what you're really saying is--I need another incubator?? 'Cause that's what I hear.

Seriously, I'm gonna pass on this one (unless I magically aquire another incubator in the next few days) because I'm not 100% that I'll have the incubator open when I recieve eggs. Thanks for answering all of my questions, ksacres!
