If you want to get more protein in Helen's diet to help her gain weight back, you could try feeding her some scrambled eggs. My chickens love them, and they are an easy to digest form of protein.

Figured I'd update on how Helen's doing 6 months later. She's a healthy weight and our best layer. She started laying pretty soon after her recovery! I wouldn't have been surprised if Helen didn't lay for a few months, but she's been laying almost every day. She only just started slowing down now that winter's here. She's not meek either. Still picking on the younger hens. You'd never think that she spent 2 weeks stuck in a vine without food or water. What an awesome bird.
