The things you hear yourself say...

"Hey! I don't know what you're doing tonight, but do you want to come over and help me worm my chickens?"

O...M...G... I used to be a suburbia-type person that shopped at the mall and watched reality tv. Then...

I bought a little country house with a barn...
Tore up a large part of an acre to grow food...
Started eye-balling the neighbor's tractor with envy...
Got a flock of chickens...
And started asking my friends to help worm my chickens like it's the most normal thing in the world...

What HAPPENED to me??

Life's good, isn't it?

Oh something kind of similar happened to me!

So I have a really good friend that had chickens before I did. She would always talk about what they had did that morning or anything about them and it would seem like she was over dramatizing what they were doing.... And then I got chickens and I found myself doing the same thing. Instead of saying she ate a worm, I would say she was running after a worm and then grabbed the worm for the ground and in less then a second slurped it down her throat, AND it was still alive!!!
And yes I told everyone about it...

I was showing pictures of my hens on my cell phone to my daughters friend when my daughter quipped, "Most grandparents show pictures of their grand child!" I thumbed through the phone and said, "Here is a picture of my grand daughter HOLDING a chicken!!"

Yes, it sure is.

Yeah, I had to laugh at myself. The other day I got a 10% off coupon for everything at Tractor Supply and I nearly wet my pants I was so excited.

Ever see that movie, The Kid? The one with Bruce Willis? I just remember this one line where the kid is yells at his older self that he's 40, not married, doesn't fly jets, and doesn't have a dog. Then he yells, "I grow up to be a loser!!" It makes me laugh every time. I think my younger self would be happy with what I've turned into - surrounded by animals, constantly covered in dirt, great family, and a steady diet of homemade ice cream.

I too get crazed by TSC deals, especially when they don't expire before I remember to bring it to the store with me.

I agree, your younger self would be very proud of you. Ooh, I want some ice cream now.
