the things your chickens WILL NOT eat

None of my chickens will eat beans! I am so offended. Everyone loves my beans but not these spoiled chickens. Don't they know it is high in protein?

Mine love the expensive organic flavored Greek yogurt. And tomatoes. Gonna try some new things this w/end. Little snots.

Tomatoes, when red they can't stand them. Also they completely ignore my cherry tomatoes... thankfully. They love the beefsteak green tomatoes, and they love the leaves. Yogurt, the plain Greek kind they have no interest in, and hummm they will not eat the red stem of the chard or the outer flesh of the zucchini. Why is that... wasteful birds.

My girls go crazy over the vanilla marigolds, but the standard yellow ones they turn their noses up at.... course they will eat them when they haven't had a vanilla one for a while. Also I've noticed they don't like any of my native plants except the yarrow. Oh yeah and they don't like sunflower petals, or seeds, but they like the sprouts.

Grapes... I have one birdie that loves grapes so much she steals them out of my hand while they are still whole and gulps them down. It's the funniest thing. It's like watching a kid shove a mouthful of them in their cheeks.

Mine won't eat celery stalks or leaves, parsley, tomatoes (except the seeds). They love silverbeet best, but also cabbage, lettuce, dandelion leaves, leaves from most other vegs (broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower). They will fight over a juicy worm, but I read somewhere that earthworms have the eggs of an intestinal worm and so should not be given to hens. They love slugs and snails.
I must try some of the exotic foods that other BYC'rs mentioned like bananas, apple, grapes etc.

I think my chickens are pretty picky! They won't touch cooked potatoe/peels, lettuce, bell peppers, bananas, yogurt, snails, and only eat the juicy parts of tomatoes, cucumber, and other fruits and veggies. But then again, they love stripping the sunflowers of their leaves, devour squash, honeydew melon, and cherries. Pretty funny to watch them fly up the sunflowers to get to the upper leaves now, because there are none left on the bottom half.
