“Yes, she’s a very energetic cat.” Bluefrost mewed.
“Energetic is right. That’s why I was a little confused when she just kind of... stopped running everywhere and just walked at a normal pace.”
Bluefrost’s eyes glittered with amusement. “I think we all were a bit surprised.”
“Yeah, that was the first hint that something was different,” he agreed.
Mintpetal stood up, a little surprised at first by the extra weight, and padded out of the nursery.
Bluefrost nodded. “I’m going to go see how Riverlight’s kits are doing if you want to come with me. You can check on Mintpetal.” She added.
“Okay,” he nodded. Then he noticed Mintpetal, and he flicked his tail in greeting.
She returned the gesture.
Bluefrost slipped away into the nursery, not wanting to disturb the friends.
Hickoryshade looked away from Mintpetal awkwardly. Even though they were on better terms than they had started out on, they still weren’t exactly best friends forever.
Mintpetal’s whiskers twitched in amusement as she looked away, too.
Finally he walked over, with the intention of making the conversation short. “Hi,” he mewed. “How are you?”
“I’m good,” she answered. “You?”
“Good.”
