Hi All,
I've been considering getting my own chickens for a some time and have been lurking here for a while. So much valuable information, I can't thank you enough.
Seeing how excited my fiance and our combined family was at the idea, we bit the bullet and got 5 Black Australorp chicks delivered 2 weeks ago. The brooder is in an inconvenient place and has added to my workload, including the care of 2 large house rabbits, but I'm hooked. I can't stop talking to our new chicks (Primrose, Yolko-Ohno, Chowder, Nugget, and Gippy....everyone got to name one, hence the diversity, lol). I think Nugget may be a rooster but it's too hard to tell right now.
We are going to expand their brooder this weekend and will start putting their coop together as we prepare for that eventual transition in the coming weeks. We can't seem to get into the summer temps here in MA, so there is no rush to get them out there. But I can't believe how fast they grow!
