My roo is a dancin fool in the morning when I let the chickens out of their house. He dances up on every pullet out there. He danced up to one of my EE's, Hottie, and guess what she did...she squatted and aloud him to take the position!!! She was just about completely laying on her belly with her wings spread out to the side.

They girls turn 18 weeks tomorrow so I'm taking this mornings chicken lovin as a good sign that lil eggs are in my future!!!

I’m the roo in our family and I can’t seem to walk by some of the girls (six birds now 20 weeks old) wo/ them doing the “come and get me squat.” (I like to give ‘em a lil’ scratch on the back just so they don’t feel ignored.)

And we have eggs so I think you’re right, it’s a good sign! It’s not consistent, tho. Maybe I’ll post a Q about it. Good luck w/ the dancing.

I've always been told that squatting is a definate sign that laying is near. I can't wait!!!

Only Hottie is squatting so far. She doesn't squat from me but she'll let me pick her up which she never let me do before. My roo knows that I'm top chicken. He tries to dance up to me and I just stick my foot up to his face and he walks away lookin pitiful.
