The mercury thermometer in the middle is very accurite, I also add a digital thermometer/hygrometer to watch temp and humidity. My first one the two lights have never worked and I didn't replace them, you don't really need them. On the top inside the little white circle is the wheel to adjust your temps clockwise sets the temp higher and counter clockwise will set it lower. You just need to tweak it alittle at a time til you have it perfect. I hatch 100% chicks in mine all the time. There should be alittle metal pan to set under the wire rack to keep your humidity levels like a water well does. If there isn't one a small pie metal pie pan will work.
My second one the lights do work and you can get replacements plus you can get new wafers from GQF. The second one I have just has an old metal pie plate that I use for the humidity pan. dbcooper gave me the replacement numbers for the wafer and I ordered a set but have never had to use them yet. I can look for my info or maybe he has his he can send you.
