Oh my, my uncle teaches Ag and he has one of these on display in his classroom. He inherited it from older teachers. He does not use it, but let me know if it works! His students build incubators every couple of years and then they sell them, I am hoping to get one this year for a hatching bator.

It's been running with the 7" pan under it for the last few hours. I really don't know how to adjust the temp yet but by playing with it a bit it is holding rock steady at 103 degrees at 45% humidity. I could only find one 7.5w bulb in town so I just have it in the "heat on" socket.

I'm surprised it is holding the temp as well as it is. It's in my body shop, on a table with the doors open. We have about a 8-10 mph breeze, and the temp was in the upper 50's when I opened the doors. We are now knocking on 80! If it can maintain itself this well with changing ambient temps just think of what it can do in a more steady room at home!!!

Incubators can be such simple devises that work wonderfully. I wonder sometimes why I think I need to add bells and whistles to everything. Oh, ya... because I am not going to be able to turn my eggs manually. I am never around the same time on any given day to baby sit. I need controls and a turner.

The little white wheel that's down inside the circle adjustment vent on the black top is what you turn up or down to control your temps. I keep mine right on 99.8 or 100 with the mercury thermometer that's attached to the wafer stem.

Yup, the eggs have to be hand turned no getting out of it with this incubator but so much fun to be able to sit and watch the hatches happen right before your eyes. I incubate and hatch all in the same unit, never a messy hatching.

The little pan under the wire doesn't take much water at all to keep the humidity running at the correct ranges. I don't fill the pan all the way to the top til day 18.

I ran it in the shop for a few days and it is a very consistent.

It is going to make a great incubator... for someone else.

I am not going to be able to turn eggs manually. I am just not around enough to do that 3 times a day. I talked to the guy that gave it to me and he is fine with me selling it.

Hi, I realize I'm a few years late on these posts but I hope someone can help me out. I bought a Lyons transparent hen incubator at an estate sale today. I'm not sure how it all works. It appears that everything is there except the glass thermometer. One bulb worked when I plugged it in and then it didn't work when I plugged it in the second time. What wattage bulbs does this take? I have chickens but I've never hatched any of my own. I see a few people on here talk about emailing original instructions. If anyone has instructions for this would you mind emailing them to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's a GE nightlight bulb 7.5 specialty #90703 if you do decide to replace them. The lights are alittle annoying coming on and off all the time. Both of mine have their glass thermometers in them and they work. Not sure where you could purchase those. What you should get tho is extra wafers incase those go bad. I ordered mine thru GQF.
