The trouble with dogs....

In your first post you mention the old man who said "dogs CANNOT be taught to not attack chickens. It's just in their instinct to do it."

You will find many here who disagree with that statement, but the old man is correct.

Thanks, everyone. I have been watching the dog pretty close now. She'll go outside and just stand and watch the chickens, looking like she so badly wants to pounce and chase. We're working on teaching her that they aren't toys. It's a tough go. I don't think she'll ever be entirely over that concept....

As far as the wounded chicken, the others leave it alone. It's covered almost completely by a top layer of feathers. The only time it's remotely exposed is when she's straining her neck to get treats on the ground. The others don't notce then because they're too busy eating too. I've been checking it everyday and it looks good. It almost looks like it's growing a protective layer on the top, like a scab. I could put the neosporin on there still if it'll help.
