I am also bothered by the whole idea of a few manufacturing companies churning out enough kibble to feed the nation's pets. For me, how you feel about rendered animals, animal "by-products," and lots of cheap, genetically modified corn, is a far less important question than: how do you feel about your local economy? Where is the stuff made? How much money is spent marketing and transporting the product you're about to buy?
I'm not interested in lecturing anyone on exactly what to feed their animals, but for goodenss' sake, buy local!
How is this nation's economy ever going to rebound if we consumers don't start buying local?
